A visit to St Malo old town on a summers day has something for everyone. Reached easily from the house, it's an easy outing where you can combine the beach with promenading the ramparts, the chic shops and galleries, and lunch in one of the many excellent restaurants that cater for all tastes as well as regional specialities.
As you arrive at the port of St Malo by boat you pass through a beautiful archipelago of rocky islands in an emerald green sea at the mouth of the Rance. For many visitors this is all they see as they bypass the old town. However the old town is a gem built up by wealthy merchants well worth an excursion.
A visit is easy to combine with a tour of the spectacular coast. Parking is easy and the whole town is pedestrianised. A wide range of water and beach sports are on offer.
